NATIONAL PARK MARINO BALLENA (Whale Marine Park)

The natural formation of Uvita’s beach is something worth visiting: two bays are joined to form the perfect figure of a whale’s tail. The beaches are protected within the Marino Ballena National Park which is named after this extraordinary formation.
The point of attraction in the park is the whale and dolphin watching. They come to breed in these warm waters from the Antarctica and the Arctic, providing a show season all year long.

Marino Ballena National Park has 5745 marine acres and 116 land-based acres. Upon entering the park there is a 15 minute walk along a sandy beach surrounded on both sides by calm waters until reaching the isthmus.

The isthmus is a rocky platform of dry stones with coral reefs and marine life that meets the sea. The brain and fan are the dominant corals of this barrier reef.

The landscape is truly amazing with the combination of beaches, estuaries, mangroves, forests, mountains, coral reefs and clear waters.
The beaches are vast, with moderate waves and crystal clear waters ideal for swimming and water sports, walking or just sunbathing and relaxing on the beach.

Uvita is rustic and picturesque village with hotels, lodges, cabins, local bars, internet cafe, supermarkets, banks and small restaurants on the street called "sodas".
